The Versatile Blogger
10 Oct 2011
Too long has passed since I was honoured by lovely Jennifer Smart over at A Sampler with a Versatile Blogger Award.
Acceptance of this award comes with the following conditions; one, I am to tell you seven interesting facts about myself, and two, I share with you fifteen blogs that I have discovered. Without any further delay then, here are some facts and some great blogs you should check out.
Seven interesting facts about me
1. I hold a PhD in philosophy.
2. I like stripey things – especially clothes.
3. I love red lipstick and I have many of them; all of them are blue based red.
4. Once I played the piano in a competition in the Cremone Hayden Orpheum.
5. I love rosé. It will never be unfashionable to me.
6. I have read Ulysses. Every single word.
7. Occasionally, I select book purely on their thickness.
15 newly (and some not so newly) discovered blogs that I enjoy – in no particular order

It always amazes me how connected we all are. These threads tie us all together.

I knew you had a philosophy background, but didn’t know you were Dr Stella Orbit. That explains why you’re so sharp.
You’re one of my absolute favourite writer/bloggers and I can’t wait to see where your writing takes you. x

This is my all time favourite comment ever. Thank you.
I am going to print it and use it as motivation during NaNoWriMo.

Thanks for including me in your list! I’m massively envious of Fact No. 1 – I majored in philosophy (and literature) but piked out of any further study because it MELTED MY BRAIN. Gosh, philosophers know how to write confusing, incomprehensible sludge. By the time I finished uni, I was desperate to get out of there…but, in retrospect, I wish I’d done more study.
Also rather envious of No. 6. I’ll get around to it someday…

It may have just been too soon to fill your head with all that stuff?
Ulyssess you should definitely read. Don’t be one of the many who can only claim to have read the first 10 pages.

Thanks so much for passing the award my way – I’m honoured! A PhD in Philosophy, hey? I minored in Philosophy, loved it, miss it. Don’t think I could have made it through PhD level though!
Both my partner and I love Rose too. I have spent the last 5 mins trying to figure out how to get an accent on that e but no idea…where on earth is it? I am sure it is in your face obvious but not to worry, accent or not, I love that you love Rose too!

I love your blog so it was an easy choice.
I think we are pretty evenly addicted to both red and to stripes! Your tights are out of this world.
Lucky too that we both live in places where tights are often required.

Love Red lipsticks too – my favourite is a Shu Uemura, unfortunately also became my 4yo’s favourite!
It’s great to read even a little tidbit about people, you get a sense of the person behind the blogger. And I thought your 7 tidbits were great. Even slightly envious about you playing at the Cremorne Orpheum.
And if you want a thick book, try Hilary Mantel’s A Place of Greater Safety – even longer than Wolf Hall.
I’ll look forward to exploring some of your blog suggestions too. :)

Note to self – keep lipsticks away from toddler!
It took me so long to come up with that list, but in the end, I think there are all significant tidbits.
I am about to start Caleb’s Crossing and then after that I have Beyond Black. Maybe on the summer hols I could read A Place of Greater Safety.
Thanks for the recommendations. x
