About me

Thinker, writer, mother. I’m writing about my child, about me, about the world and about what it all means. Sometimes. Other times I write about meeting new people and about tea. Oh and the odd gin and tonic.

Lots of people told me I’d be bored at home. I don’t think so. I am now balancing life with work and family.

    Hello Stella,

I’m now 78 and retired. My Eureka moment in the early 90’s was created by Professor Max Deutscher. I had enrolled in Logic and Philosophy for a Non Degree Course at Macquarie Uni. What a thought explosion! He thrust aside my intellectual curtains. I could think and imagine more clearly.

Suddenly Max happened to me. He opened so many virtual windows for me. I now have a major interest in Philosophy, particularly pragmatic and that which can be of value to modern society. Also I enjoy the thinking of Spinoza and Leibnitz. But more than that, he opened many doors for me in Consciousness and the Mind. I follow Sir Roger Penrose, Lee Smolin, Dan Dennett, Hofstadter, Steven Pinker, and the Churchlands. But even wider horizons: Cosmology, Quantum Mechanics, Biology, Evolutionary Psychology.

I wrote an essay on the absurdity of men reporting the history of women. I did it because it’s true not because Macquarie then was very feminist.

Thanks Max for opening my mind and triggering my brain!

    Sincerely,

    Peter Gregory Blaxland
